The dive site
Broughton Island, located about 14km off Port Stephens, is part of the Great Lakes Marine Park. The island boasts many sites with gutters, reef, bommies and much more!
Marine life
As Broughton Island falls within a Marine Park, there is an abundance of a healthy reef and marine life. There is a large aggregation of grey nurse sharks, which are there all year round, and seasonal visits from beautiful humpback whales. The reef and the island are also bursting with macro life, including seahorses and nudibranchs among other things.
What you will see
Out by the island, you’ll spot grey nurse sharks, large schools of fish, weedy sea dragons, and much more!
And once you’re finished your dives, head up to Tomaree Headland to absorb the incredible views of Port Stephens and the north coast.
